The tape dispenser lives with me

My artifact is original tape dispenser. My original tape dispenser is made of wood and It's my Handmade. It not only holds scotch tape, but also has space for small items. I have been using this artifact for 7 years.

I made tape dispenser in my arts and crafts class when I was in the sixth grade. Even now I continue to use it. Because it's something with memories. There are few memories of elementary school that remain in shape. The word "taiyaki" has no meaning. However, I was thinking about the meaning in my own way.

「たのしく」「いきいきと」「やる気を持って」「きっちり卒業をめざす」

"たのしく" means fun. "いきいきと" means  to live actively. "やる気を持って" means to be motivated. "きっちり卒業を目指す" means aiming for graduation.

One day, in an arts and crafts class at an elementary school, I have to make an original tape dispenser.

“Hmm, what kind of design should I make?” I was thinking.

“Hey Mac, what kind of design are you going to draw?” One of my friends asked me “Any design is fine, right?”

“But wouldn't it be better to draw a memorable design?” I strongly said to the friend. “I will make my own memorable tape dispenser.” I thought silently.

While the people around me thought it was easy, I thought it was difficult. I wanted to write something memorable and leave it in a form. So, draw my class theme “taiyaki” and when I made it.

The reason why I wrote this word is because I wanted to write down when I made it and keep it. I put "Heisei 27". I wanted to keep memories of my class goal, "Taiyaki." (6-4)

I like to remember the old days. Sometimes remembering it makes me sad, but there are also times when I think it was a good memory. My tape dispenser has sustained my life for seven years. I don't want to let it go, and I don't want to break it. It is an artifact that I would like to continue using.

Japan has a culture of burning memories. It is called "Otakiage". That culture is a culture of burning your precious things and the relics of your loved ones. In other words, it means to burn important things. The reason why we burn important things is because it would be rude to leave those memories for a long time. So it means to give thanks to things and send them to sky. But these days there is a problem with this sacred "Otakiage". It is to pollute the environment by burning things. Not only that, but some people even try to put their household waste in there. In my opinion, the culture of burning important things is not bad. However, if we think about the environment, we should not burn it. Therefore, I think that important things should not be burned, but should be left with oneself.

  1. Hello! "Taiyaki" and "Heisei" are very impressive words! I thought it was very good and original.
I didn't know that "Otakiage" was a problem. It is a traditional thing and I don't want to lose it. I thought that we could make an effort to save electricity in other ways before suspension it.
